Control System Technology provides strategic application development and production support to
2 firm-wide organizations whose focus is strongly aligned to the firm’s enterprise wide control agendas: Oversight and Control and IT Risk Management.
 
Control Systems Process Architect
The Control Systems Technology organization is building a new capability to partner with the two client sectors it supports via technology application development in order to drive process design and reengineering across the application portfolio. Focusing on cross portfolio / cross solution process simplification and integration, the CST Process Architect will support cross functional efforts to address optimization of processes associated with regulatory engagement, control risk assessment, vendor assessments, approvals, etc. Reporting to the CST Process Architect Lead, this role will support both major strategic cross portfolio change programs as well as more discrete high-impact portfolio specific programs.  The objectives of the function this individual will perform are to:


  • Work across functional organizations to build business models (Process Hierarchy/Process Flows/Capability/Service Models, etc.), identify synergies, and develop target state models and roadmaps
  • Apply process re-engineering methods to improve process efficiencies and effectiveness, minimize risk, and reduce non-value adding efforts
  • Ensure that application designs are compatible with firm standards and structured optimally driven from a process perspective to deliver efficient and effective solutions to business partners and end users
  • Promote more consistent and effective use of methods, standards, best practices, and tools
  • Help increase maturity of business architecture and business process mgmt capabilities as well as develop new capabilities
  • Identify and develop metrics to best manage the impact of process design work organization


 
This individual will work very closely with CST Process Architect Lead and other cross-CST architects (e.g., application architects, information architects, infrastructure architects) to improve portfolios overall maturity in capabilities and technology in partnership with the businesses.
 
Responsibilities:


  • Performs analysis and design of the current and target business architecture models
  • Conducts interviews with key contacts across the organization to gather baseline information
  • Defines the data elements and the relationships between those data elements and processes, people, systems, and other components of enterprise architecture
  • Performs analysis to test hypotheses and size opportunities (including data gathering, modeling and synthesis of results)
  • Identifies improvement opportunities, categorizes them, and provides recommendations
  • Contributes to continuous improvement by leveraging Six Sigma, CMM, or other methodologies.
  • Analyzes the impact of proposed change requirements on the overall business and technology architecture.
  • Prepares business architecture deliverables based on process re-engineering standards, and in accordance with the firms methodologies and other applicable architectural standards.
  • Creates and maintains architecture artifacts in a central knowledge repository
  • Identifies/mitigates risks to delivering solution on time
  • Communicates effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals at all levels.
  • Participates in development of strategic roadmaps as well as tactical implementation plans and helps monitor adherence to the target direction
  • Builds and maintains excellent relationship with internal clients and colleagues


 
Qualifications:
 
Candidates should be able to effectively design, communicate, and facilitate the change process with internal clients, and can successfully execute solutions that deliver results.  Specifically, the candidate will be responsible for themselves or via their team (dedicated and virtual) to scope a given project, develop a work plan, conduct interviews, collect and interpret data, apply architectural principles, methods, and tools to business challenges,  assemble observations and create high-level models (rigorous information-rich diagrams) that can be used in future analysis to extend and mature the business architecture, syndicate results and liaise with business leaders.


  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience
  • Problem solving skills - Candidate must demonstrate end-to-end generalist problem solving skills, including the ability to define and deconstruct problems, identify and prioritize key issues, gather data, structure and execute quantitative and qualitative analyses, perform competitor/industry research, conduct interviews, synthesize findings, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Process architecture skills - Candidate must have experience in business process analysis, modeling, optimization, and re-engineering by applying best practice methods (such as Lean Six Sigma) and have working knowledge of a BPM tool (e.g., iGrafx, ProVision, Aris, iServer, IBM BPM, Pega, OBPM, etc.). Knowledge of enterprise architecture method (e.g. TOGAF) and experience in developing business architecture models is a plus.
  • Project management skills – Candidate must be able to scope projects and create workable project plans.  Candidate must be able to meet commitments and balance competing priorities.
  • Teamwork & collaboration skills - Candidate must demonstrate the ability to closely partner with stakeholders at all levels and be flexible in his/her work style.
  • Communications and influencing skills - Candidate must possess strong written and oral communications skills, including the ability to quickly adjust message based on different audiences/agendas and achieve goals without direct control of resources.
  • Personal traits - Candidate must be a results-focused, highly-motivated, self-starter.
